IBM cloud customers were impacted by a large scale outage this week. Which is concerning. The outage appears to have been due to an issue with IP routing which may have been cause by a BGP hijacking.

If true it raises the question of how such a fundamental resilience related issue could occur in the first instance. As we become more dependent on the cloud our concentration risk rises, presenting a single point of failure.
