Call us now:
In normal times FUD (Fear Uncertainty and Doubt) does not work to make change in the board room, but one suggests we are not in normal times. There are plenty of reports from US government agencies including CISA, DHS and the DoD to suggest that the current Ukraine situation has spilled over from a kinetic conflict to logical.
The challenge we all face today is staying vigilant against cyber-attacks and the potential damage they cause as the geopolitical situation intensifies in Ukraine. We know our infrastructure is vulnerable to Nation State cyber threats that have come not just from Russian. CISA recently issued an advisory of Iranian Government Sponsored attacks targeting government and private entities in telecommunications, defense, local government, and oil and natural gas in Asia, Africa, Europe, and North America.(https://lnkd.in/dutei3YH) last week.
Wes Hallman, the National Defense Industrial Association’s senior vice president of strategy and policy, says in this article that it is important to have unified cybersecurity standards, like what CMMC aims to be, across all of federal contracting, not just DOD because it’s really a threat for the entirety of the economy, and it’s not just from Russia — but that’s the proximate threat right now.
The challenge we all face is a lack of skilled resources and the time necessary to put in place the controls we need in the short term to protect our CNI, from the big industrial contractors through to the SMEs that deliver critical products and services up and down global supply chains.
