It’s positive to see the UK starting to fund cybersecurity. But why does it feel that the horse has bolted and is half way over the paddock 4 fields away. Before we woke up the the reality of cyber being a threat to national and economic security?

“The keyboard has become a weapon of war,” Defence Secretary John Healey announced at MoD Corsham, the UK’s military cyber HQ, on Wednesday. Britain’s digital defences are facing daily attacks from hostile states, he warned, and the time has come to fight back with a £1 billion injection to fund new artificial intelligence capabilities and an army of hackers.

All and any cyber funding is positive. But the UK is playing catch up with nation states, what’s the UKs defensive cyber strategy for the public AND private sector……….cyber essentials?
