Lloyds is facing some challenges, on one side it’s dealing with the full extent of climate change, with $100bn of losses from natural catastrophes yet to make their way thorough the system to insurers. On the other it recently announced that systemic cyber attacks could cause between $2.5Trn and $16Trn in damages. Reinsurers have increased their prices to primary insurers by as much as 200% in January 2023, one can expect these to increase again in 2024.
Â
In both cases insures have few solutions to deal with the risks, they cannot control the climate and they have no solutions to manage cyber risk. How will insurers manage the increased risk to their business’ and their clients as cyber threats increase in line with Lloyds predications?
