Today we should not be in a position where DDoS is a valid threat vector. Words like assault belay the reality that many firms still do not take cybersecurity seriously and use ‘complex’ or ‘assault’ to hid the fact that cybersecuirty is not being managed.
Shipping is CNI and regulated under NIS 2 (https://lnkd.in/eSRjtc7E), boards are required to manage cyber risk, implement cyber education and report cyber incidents in 24 hours. If DDoS is a problem, then broader cybersecurity risk management is going to be a challenge.
