Russia has decided not to ban crypto currencies outright but to adopt a regulatory approach to oversight. Following what appears to be a similar approach to that by the US. As there is a move to regulate crypto exchanges and apply regulatory enforcement regimes such at FAFT for AML.

With governments looking to create their own central bank backed digital currencies there appears to be a move towards bringing in crypto currencies into regulatory environments rather than pushing them underground. Given the innovative opportunities that crypto currencies, NFTs and smart contracts provide, that has to be a good thing.
