Russian Military Intelligence threat actors Sandworm were likely behind cyberattacks on Poland’s power networks in December 2025.

Milosz Motyka, Poland’s energy minister, told reporters January 13 that the cyberattack on the country’s power system in the final week of December was the strongest attack on the energy infrastructure in years.

We have seen an increase in the destructive use of cyberattacks over the past couple of years, and an increase in hybrid attacks against EU infrastructure.

If you can hack an organisation to ransom them, you can also destroy infrastructure.
