Call us now:
Deep inside the dark web, AI threats stir. Cyber threat actors have developed marketplaces enabling the purchase of all manner of automated threats. We are now seeing the logical development of Large Language Models filled with and trained by data used to impersonate individuals.
AI used by threat attacks in its simplest form is being used to automate traditional cyberattacks, such as brute-force or password spray. AI-based ransomware using agents to plan, analyse systems, data, generate and execute attacks. Where the agent replaces the person and creates polymorphic attacks, making them difficult to detect. AI is being used for phishing, to impersonate individuals and organisations, to generate deepfake text, voice, or video, which is throwing out all our old methods of identifying phishing attempts. AI is being used to evaluate known CVE vulnerabilities, understand the vulnerability, auto-generate exploit code, and run the exploit process.
In short, as we use AI to improve processes, hackers are using AI to develop and run the AI kill chain, at speed, at very low cost, and it is highly effective. AI was recently reported to have been used to weaponize anthropic.
AI-powered attacks are on the rise……..our defensive cyber strategies are still trying to work out how to enforce cybersecurity.
