Seems like the answer to the SECs social medial woes in early January were due to SIM Swap.

Clarifying what happened on the 9th of January when a message confirming that the SEC will sanction bitcoin ETF, sent markets into a spin. As the SECs Mobile number was compromised before the bitcoin ETF message was posted on X. The SEC confirmed it had requested MFA to be disabled in July 2023, but it was reinstated on all Social Media accounts.
