Several years ago as a member of the board of the UK The Security Institute I was involved in the development of the UK Cyber Security Council (I have the coffee mug to prove it ;-)). It was set up by the UK Government to define professional standards and career pathways in cyber security. Providing a unified framework for qualifications, certifications, and professional recognition, aligning the cyber security profession with other professions.
Why are we not hearing anything from either the UK Government or Cyber Security Council? Everything raised in the enclosed by De Montfort University is the remit of the Council. The UK has fallen significantly behind peer nations in its management of cybersecurity risk, yet has the structures in place to present itself as a leader, along side its peers. Why?
