Thank you for posting @Thaddeus Dziekanowski. AI is a powerful tool, and its adoption is creating opportunities and threats. Like all powerful tools, its adoption comes with responsibilities, as we have seen recently as the issues between the US Government and anthropic have unfolded.
AI is moving faster than anyone can manage its risks. The past 3 months have taught us a lot about the opportunities and threats of AI and AI adoption. AI governance is now top of the agenda at global, regional, and national levels. It appears that no one has an answer to the pending global, regional, and national challenges that AI adoption is creating. Over the past 3 months, we have seen Agentic AI drive ahead. Tools such as OpenClaw have demonstrated the security issues Agentic AI can create. A recent MIT report highlighted the issues with shutting down rogue agents. Perplexity released a new product called ‘Computer’, a secure version of OpenClaw that can control multiple agents, and the insurance industry is taking a hard look at the insurability of AI.
The proliferation and adoption of AI have made the opportunities and challenges of AI adoption an issue for Governments, and, as this article points out, for Washington and governments globally. Regulators are also focused on AI governance and sector-specific considerations for oversight and assurance of AI risk management, alongside cyber risk management, as AI is embedded across CNI sectors.
AI is not going away; there’s too much invested in it, and if managed appropriately, it delivers great benefits. But here lies the problem, for every good there’s a bad, and all roads lead back to governments to find a solution.
