The challenge many organisations face with cybersecurity is that cyber threats can go unnoticed for a long time. As is the case with Ribbon Communications in the US, which recently filed a report with the SEC and highlighted that threat actors could have entered their network as early as December 2024.

However, for companies such as Ribbon Communications, which is a provider of technology services to the telecommunications companies, and as such is a prime target for hackers. Having intruders in your networks that go unnoticed for any period of time is a significant issue. When threat actors are inside your network for long periods of time, they can spend time and effort identifying your IT systems, strengths, and weaknesses. They can access IP and can work their way into customers’ networks.
