The Chinese anti-espionage law has now come into effect, giving authorities additional tools to take action against foreign companies that analyze Chinese data and statistics. This law is a significant move by the Chinese government,, it is being driven by Chinese Authorities fear of other nations having access to information that it believes effects National Security.
It creates challenges for international organizations with offices in China, as the Chinese authorities decide what data effects national security. Adding legal uncertainty, with even less leeway in dealing with Chinese data, statistics and information and consequences for organizations working in China. Restricting the flow of legitimate data from organisation to their international offices.
