The consulting business is slowing down. That’s the message from Accenture’s update to markets in Friday 20th June, as it announced a second quarter slowdown in new business. In part exacerbated by the termination of US Federal contracts. The financial announcement also coincided with an announcement that Accenture is restructuring around a growth model leveraging AI.
AI has also crept up on Knowledge Industries. What was once the purview of consultancies, that was industry research, knowledge and advisory solutions can be found through Gemini, Chat GPT, Groq and others. AI has created opportunities and increased threats across knowledge industries. What were once safe moats have been drained and there needs to be a rethink on how knowledge industries can continue to create value for clients. Those that can adapt to this change and deliver will be those that win.
