The cyber stars are aligning behind cyber regulation. As the ONCD national cyber strategy, SEC Final Ruling and EU regulators all move ahead with cybersecurity and cybersecurity risk management regulation. That predominantly focus upon the role corporates play in the management of cybersecurity and cybersecurity risks.
There is more alignment than one would imagine, with Critical National Infrastructure (that includes more than its fair share of industry sectors) and a focus on the cybersecurity of internet enabled products and services under both the ONCD and EU spot light. The SEC Final Ruling is effective from the 5th September that given its scope, is the first global cyber regulation effecting organizations covered under the Securities and Exchange Act 1934. Cyber regulation is now well out of the starting blocks.
We are publishing our 1st paper on the SEC ruling shortly. Explaining why it is more complicated to comply than any previous cyber regulations, and what we believe the SEC expects registrants to achieve for cyber risk and cyber incident reporting.
