The effect of the application of DFARS 252.204-7021, or as it is known, CMMC, by the United States Department of War is starting to be felt.
The John Day Dam is a large hydroelectric gravity dam on the Columbia River, near Rufus, Oregon, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The turbines are being replaced, and the generator rewound, at an estimated cost of $500million.
From sam.gov, ‘DFARS clause 252.204-7021 Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) Requirements are being developed and will be included in the solicitation as applicable.’
No, it’s not for an F35, F16 or M1. It’s a project to update and refurbish the infrastructure of CNI, operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers. It will be interesting to see what the CMMC requirements look like, given the demonstrated impact of cyber attacks on CNI, both inside and outside of the US.
