The European Commission presented a new Cybersecurity Strategy in December 2020. The Strategy has three pillars:
1. Resilience, technological sovereignty and leadership – Reforming the rules on the security of network and information systems. Creating a network of Security Operations Centres across the EU, providing for a Ëcybersecurity shield’ for the EU.
2. Building operational capacity to prevent, deter and respond –
The Commission envisages the creation of a new Joint Cyber Unit, to strengthen cooperation between EU bodies and Member States.
3. Advancing a global and open cyberspace through increased cooperation – Working to build stronger relationships with other countries and increasing engagement in international standardisation processes.
