The news that a Ferry in the French Mediterranean port of Sète has been compromised by a possible remote Hijack is concerning. Successful cyberattacks on shipping, port infrastructure, oil and gas extraction, and transportation have impacts on national security, economic security, with predictable consequences for financial markets.

To this end, the EU introduced EU NIS2, which affects CNI sectors, including Transportation and the Maritime industry. Requiring covered companies to implement governance, cybersecurity risk management, cybersecurity programs, and board oversight and assurance of cyber risk. Organisations and boards that do not comply face civil and/ or criminal penalties.

We published the enclosed paper with Maritime Risk International discussing NIS2 and requirements for Maritime Cybersecurity Risk Management.
