The Kaseya attack over this weekends 4th of July celebrations demonstrates the lack of defensive cyber security and ease by which hackers can and have infiltrated companies, which manage the keys to the crown jewels of Corporate America, Europe, Asia and India. With the recent Executive Orders on SCRM and Cybersecurity it is time for a complete rethink of cybersecurity strategy and implementation.

The attack as with SolarWinds looks to be global, impacting a range of public and private enterprises. It forced the Coop in Sweden to close 500 stores, some schools in New Zealand have had to close and a broad range of MSPs using Kaseya software have been impacted.

Kaseya offer a range of ‘sensitive services’, including solutions to ‘Take the chaos out of compliance’. It is now time to adopted a different approach for cyber security, that current model is flawed. We are not mandating defensive cyber regulation, we don’t have the skilled resources to manage cyber and the focus is to much on pen-testing and not enough on cybersecurity risk management.
