The Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) has notified the US Congress of a major information security incident involving its email system. An incident that resulted in the unauthorised access to a significant under of email accounts.https://lnkd.in/esgwaiBEThe Office of the Comptroller of Currency (OCC) is a significant US regulator. They are an independent bureau of the US Department of the Treasury that charters, regulates and supervises national banks, federal savings associations, and federal branches and agencies of foreign banks. The OCC not only supervises and examines over 1,200 covered entities, it issues enforcement notices, it takes action on those entities that do not meet regulated obligations. As a Federal Agency the US Department of Treasury, and its bureaus are directed to comply with FISMA. It is difficult to find a FISMA evaluation completed for the Office of the Comptroller of Currency that details it maturity over its management of information security. There is little information on how well the OCC manages information security. This report discusses the policies, procedures, education and threats, but little on compliance of information security and CISA metric required by FISMA. https://lnkd.in/ezTT2fWt@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Johnathan RudyVeritas GRC#cybersecurity #cyberriskmanagement #cyberregulation
