The question the UK must raise is should cybersecurity ownership be held by the MoD, or a public body that focuses on the broader implications of cybersecurity across all the public and private sector?Cyber is a nation security issue and one that has a broad impact on society, both the public and private sector. Obviously the MoD, as with many defense departments is they do not have The MoD does not have the breadth of knowledge, skills or experience; levers; or access to the private sector needed. The MoD does however have to face up to the management of cybersecurity as a domain of offensive and defensive operations, along side other security services. Cyber resilience on the battlefield is a significant issue, as the US has found out through the theft of its IP from with the global DIB, due to cyber attack.I’m not these statements bear rigor,Pollard emphasised that cyber resilience contributes directly to deterrence. “Because we are a country with high levels of cyber-resilience and cyber‑expertise, it makes us a less favourable target,” he said, though he warned the scale of cyber threats remains “considerable”.In response to questions from MP Alex Baker, the Minister acknowledged that while existing cyber capabilities are strong, “we need more people and more skills.” He highlighted the MOD’s new “direct entry cyber pathway”, which removes traditional military entry barriers such as medical or physical requirements, enabling cyber talent to join without the need to fit traditional frontline roles. As someone that owns a cyber education company, that develops cyber education programs, whose partners Brian D. McCarthy and @Thaddeus Dziekanowski live and breadth cyber education globally. One can safely say the UK lags behind many nations in terms of cyber knowledge, skills and experience. One only has to look at the take up of cyber essentials; the UKs cyber regulatory posture as compared to its partners. There’s a global shortage of skilled cyber resource, one should go and look at how many people have cyber qualifications or hold Charters in security. The figures are disturbingly small.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D. McCarthy Faisal KhanVeritas GRC#cyberregulation #cyberriskmanagement #cybereducationhttps://lnkd.in/egKPZ-KW
