The relaxation of the rules for the sale of cyber weapons by the Isrealie government should be a cause for concern. The country is one of the top developers of cyber tech, with reports it has rightly been choosy over who it sells its tech to.
But will the move to help its companies monetise its expertise have a knock on impact to the rest of us? Would the US sell its cruise missile technology to everyone, probably not. But even if it did, it would be hard for it to end up en-masse, out in the wild. As we found out with Wannacry, software is different.
Let’s hope it remains better controlled than code developed by the NSA and they remain choosy over what they sell to whome.
