The state of EU cybersecurity is laid bare by its head. As Juhan Lepessaar, the Executive Director of ENISA, makes it clear that the EU needs to urgently rethink its cyber defences in light of the unprecedented cyber threat faced by the EU. (that’s before you add the threat of AI)

“We are losing this game,” said Juhan Lepassaar, the executive director of the EU’s Agency for Cybersecurity (ENISA). “We are not catching up, we’re losing this game, and we’re losing massively.”

ENISA needs more resources to complete its mission; the EU needs to significantly increase its focus on cyber defence at the same time it is increasing its spending on kinetic defenses.

This is from a region that has made the most significant strides in cybersecurity regulation and defences than most global nations.
