The UKs National Cyber Security Centre has highlighted the effects of Russian Threat Actors on UK industry. That means it must be a serious threat, as they wouldn’t make the effort to publicise the threat and indicating that organisations have already been compromised. One wonders which government agencies have been affected Andrew Alston?
While the threat seems to sit on the perimeter of an organisation, compromising Microsoft Cloud accounts, it poses a serious threat. It facilitates corporate information gathering, misinformation and intelligence gathering by Russian state actors.
Additionally the UK government has sanctioned several GRU units and GRU officers and agents, for their part in cyber and information interference. Not that they will find their way to a court any time soon.
