The US House and Senate wants answers from Capital One and Amazon on the recent data theft. Senate and House committees are looking for answers and a letter has been sent to Jeff Bezos, the Amazon CEO. No doubt asking for a polite chat and to understand the role of the company in the breach.
The speed of the process from breach notification, arrest and political oversight should be a warning to any board in the US. It’s taken less than 3 weeks, from start to a call from the Senate and House.
Are companies in danger of speeding up the legislative process every time a major breach takes place? Corporate inaction is likely to be a cause of regulation, oversight and fines.
