There is only one direction for cybersecurity risk management. For Cybersecurity risk to be economically managed it has to be treated ‘Left of Bang’. Cyber has to be treated as an investment, not ‘Right of Bang’ with cyber treated an as insurable cost. Cyber regulation defines the Left of Bang management of cybersecurity risk by boards.

We wrote the Left of Bang cyber strategy in 2022. Defining the approach for organizations an insurers to adopt to manage cybersecurity risk.

Cybersecurity risk management is an investment. It requires organization transfer risk ‘Left of Bang’. Cyber risk management is no longer a choice for organisations.

Left of Bang is not a choice for the insurance industry. If insurers want to grow GWP, they must offer solutions enabling their clients manage cyber risk, rather than expect cyber risk management to be a cost managed through insurance. You cannot close the insurance gap without it.
