Well worth a read, as G7 nations raise the responsible use of cybersecurity by nation states in the context of international security. Highlighting the concern the G7 places over cybersecurity by establishing a Cybersecurity working group and pursuing a four-fold approach to counter malicious cyber activities:
i) promoting responsible state behavior in cyber space
ii) improving cybersecurity, including in the private sector
iii) developing and using tools to deter and respond to malicious (State) behavior and to cyber criminals, and disrupt the infrastructure they use, including by enhancing coordination on attribution processes;
iv) strengthening our partners’ cybersecurity capacity.

The rising threat of cyber against CNI and the energy sector in particular is singled out as requiring attention; increasing supply chain resilience and security; incentivizing secure IoT products and mutual recognition of schemes for reliable cyber-safe products.

One wonders if we are literally chasing the dragons tail. As the G7 is playing catchup across many fronts with China? The G7 requires an approach that addresses cybersecurity from the ground up and top down.

Today, without cybersecurity you cannot have national, organizational or economic security.
