Well worth a read, especially the statement issued by The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC). OAIC is taking Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) to court over its failure to protect customer data during its 2022 data breach.

In a statement the OAIC alleges significant failures by the company to protect customer data and inform the commissioner about the breach when required. (https://lnkd.in/e8mED39B)

The statement demonstrates the regulatory oversight, highlighting some of the challenges and issues ACL faced during and after the incident. It lays bare the chronology of the event, the capabilities available to manage the incident, advice given to the firm and decisions made by ACL to manage the incident.
