A really good read, can cyber security be regulated to the benefit of all? Given the complex geographic, and geopolitical landscape and issues of national sovereignty?
In my view unlike any other domain of security, cyber cuts across geographic, political and cultural boundaries in real time. It’s not like physical security where it is possible to put up walls, barbed wire, use conventional military tools for offensive and defensive means. We are all aware that a Script Kiddie can cause damage to corporate infrastructure as easily as a nation state actor or their proxy.
But is it possible in the interests of all nations to come together and reach a consensus on cyber regulation? This is a very interesting article on happening and what is currently impeding progress around global cyber regulation.
I think what is clear is that there are seeds for consensus being discussed which have the opportunity to impact all states. But it has a very long way to go to secure a mandate.
