Thank you, Bryan Foss. As with its clients, the Charity Sector is invariably the most vulnerable sector when it comes to cybersecurity. Add to this the risk posed by security incidents with third-party suppliers, and the impact of cyber attacks is significant.
In this case, if correct, the publication of an access key could lead to the exposure of data belonging to a large number of UK charities.
Such hacks demonstrate that everyone is vulnerable to cyber risk. In this case, it may have been human error, which is very difficult to mitigate. A reason why cyber risk is everyone’s problem.
