The SEC final cyber rules effects Foreign Private Issuers (FPIs). As the SEC discusses in the rule, EU and Canadian FPIs are required to disclose material changes. In the enclosed article, pointing out that the ‘Toronto Stock Exchange requires a listed company to disclose material information concerning its business and affairs forthwith upon it becoming known to management.’ Also pointing out that Canadian regulators published ‘CSA Multilateral Staff Notice 51-347 Disclosure of Cyber Security Risks and Incidents’, provides guidance on certain disclosure expectation.

The SEC rule may influence Canadian issuers’ disclosure practices. Will it also influence disclosure practices of other regulatory in the UK, EU and APAC?
