The monies gone in, and revenues and profits have been lacking. Investors are now asking where are the promised results of AI?
Profits aren’t yet flowing from AI, one suspects they won’t for some time. In simple terms LLMs while useful don’t drive the mass business transformation many expected in the time frames.
Considering cybersecurity for one minute. AI could provide point solutions to enable organisations manage some cyber risks. But it is somecway off providing the wholesale transformation needed by most organisations to manage cyber risk transfer. Least of all when boards have to put their reputation on the line under cyber regulations.
As someone who was involved in AI, KBS and KBE 25 years ago. One can say with a hand on heart, the benefits of LLM based AI are someway off. It’s interesting how everyone has an AI solution, but few have AI experience.
