Anthropic hasn’t yet released its Mythos model to UK Banks for evaluation, but OpenAI has given 9 UK banks access to its cybersecurity AI tool GPT-5.5.
The UKs AI Security Institute has evaluated both models and reported that they have similar levels of performance. From the research below, there’s not much difference between Mythos and GPT-5.5.
The very real issue on the table is the ability of AI to continually compress the time taken to successfully automate the cyber kill chain. This should be of serious concern to industry, not just financial services. AI automation, used in the wrong hands, is a very significant threat to national, economic, and organisational security.
