FedRAMP moderate compliance is required by US DoW-covered contractors under DFARS CMMC. Companies that affirm compliance with DFARS are affirming that if they use a cloud provider, the cloud provider is FedRAMP moderate or equivalent compliance.
The indictment announced in December 2025 is an example of the DoJ placing focus on contractors meeting their compliance obligations. Or facing the DoJ and DoW.
One wonders how many EU Defence contractors use Cloud Providers that are FedRAMP moderate certified?
