Thank you for posting, Martin Schwarz. The UK has no cyber strategy, and we have no defensive program enabling UK industry manage cyber risk. Letters requiring cybersecurity risk management to boards, policy statements, and guidance documents do not deliver cybersecurity.

Whether there is agreement or not with the use of regulation. Regulators in the United States and the European Union have developed and implemented cybersecurity regulations. Regulations that address governance, oversight, and assurance of cybersecurity risks across critical national infrastructure and digitally enabled products and services.

Unfortunately, there are no levers left to pull for the UK economy to enable industry to manage cyber threats, other than through regulation. Civil and criminal penalties for compliance may focus the attention of the boardroom, as cyber is often quoted as the biggest risk facing UK industry. It certainly can affect GDP (Jaguar Land Rover Hack), and national security.
