The UK Defence industry is reliant on decisions made outside of the UK for funding. The Italian owner of a helicopter factory in the UK has warned that it can’t keep subsidizing the factory in the absence of contracts from the UK government and MoD.

This week, the US Government’s CMMC program became effective. Albeit in a separate twist, the US Government’s Department of War (DoW) cyber rule became effective this week. Rules that set out expectations of cyber regulatory compliance by the UK defence industry. Requirements that threaten the loss of DoW contracts and options, unless UK defence contractors demonstrate cybersecurity compliance with DoW rules.
