The US DoD recommends NIST SP 800-171 as the minimum requirement for cybersecurity for the international DIB (that includes the UK) to protect CUI and controls in FAR 52.204-21 for FCI. ENISA recommends ISO 27001 for EU NIS compliance.

Unfortunately, as the JLR, Marks and Spencer, and Heathrow hacks have recently demonstrated. More is needed than shining lights. A concerted effort to educate the whole of society on cybersecurity, as demonstrated by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), is required.
