Ever wondered why the UK government was fixated on AI? Productivity and National debt are two reasons why. If the UK makes only marginal improvements in national productivity, it will have a significant impact on national debt. Productivity improvements, the government has stated, can be delivered by AI (amongst other things).
The only challenge is that the UK government, whichever party is in power, is notoriously bad at delivery. Another is that many AI ‘experts’ last job was working in fast food or delivery, and financial markets are talking about an AI bubble.
