Thank you Norman Broadbent Plc and Tanya Gass for the opportunity to start a conversation on the Governance of Cybersecurity Risk Management.

Cybersecurity risk management is a regulated risk in the US and EU, with civil and criminal liabilities for board members. Cyber is a risk to national security as reported by the National Cyber Security Centre, a risk to UK PLC as demonstrated by the hacks against Marks and Spencer, the Co-op and many other companies and a risk to the UKs economic security as cyber threats target Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).

Cyber is a business risk governed by the board. Who have a fiduciary responsibility to manage cyber risk. It is one reason Veritas GRC has delivered Board Cyber Risk Governance programs to the Federal Bar Association, American Bar Association and are about to launch our Board Cyber Risk Governance program with the The Government of Dubai Legal Affairs Department. Programs that improve the knowledge and skills of General Counsel and members of boards of companies in the GCC. Programs that equally apply to the boards of UK companies.
