AI is a comin for the Audit industry as it rips up the consulting industry play book and sets alight to the burning bridge.

One wonders if it is more a reflection of the consulting industry, that AI is being being as a tool that reduces time by cutting out the time it takes to create PowerPoint presentations, SWOT analysis, write a business strategy or bench mark. That is more a demonstration of the use of Gen AI as a tool, rather than domain specific AI that is the opportunity ahead for areas of the knowledge industry such as Audit.

As with consulting firms, audit firms now stand at the alter of AI. Not only can AI be used to create basic audit programs and plans, build foundational corporate policies and procedures it can evaluate artefact compliance to internal controls and write the audit summary reports. Internal audit teams can assure control effectiveness and present their finding to the board. Providing valuable insights to the board to validate corporate performance, ahead of external audit.

AI is moving quickly and as Dan Miles wrote yesterday, the necessary there’s change coming and those that create AI solutions and platforms will likely become the power brokers of tomorrow.
