We are not living in cyber carnage, but we seem to be heading towards an inflection point and realisation that our management of cyber risk needs more attention than its currently getting. We, as a society, are moving beyond the FUD debate that has clouded cybersecurity for many years. Cybersecurity risk and compliance are board agenda items

BUT, and its a big BUT. While we turn this corner and cyber becomes a predominant visible board risk. How will industry close the resourcing gap? While the predictions of increased hiring is positive, there is already a lack of knowledgeable, skilled cyber and risk resources across the UK, the EU and USA today.

How will we close the resource gap? Cyber is a complex risk, and cyber skills are difficult to find. With banks offering better packages than other corporates the talent pool will gravitate toward pay and benefit, above altruism. We need a better solution to address the cybersecurity risk management challenges companies face.

Watch this space as we a solution and will be making some noise about it soon.
