Cyber is a FUD issue, often the first to be bought up when there’s a CNI incident. But lets face it the US governments been raising concerns of the infiltration and pre-proposition of nation stares in its CNI for several years, so lets not discount it just yet.Olaf Classen, its interesting that the Spanish Governments cyber agency is now asking about the cybersecurity of its national power providers. As the investigation into last months power outage continues and the country is yet to identify the cause of its power grid failure. A judge in Spain’s National High Court has opened an investigation into the incident.How do you lose so much power so quickly. Generator trips, leading to a frequency drop, overload protection and disconnection. Tripping a power generator or series of generators by buggering with their SCADA can of course cause them to trip. Pushing the issue across the power grid. Interestingly all the major SCADA providers to the Spanish power grid have all been hacked.That leads us on to the power outages that we’re suffered in the UK.
