AI is currently a gold rush, with money being made in them their hills. There are allot of profound statements being made about AI from both sides of the house about its benefits and risks. About how efficient it will make businesses, how much it will improve the GDP of nations adopting AI and the rush to adopt AI without a clear strategy for its use.While there’s examples of companies that have replaced employees with AI, only to rehire them again when they realise AI is not ready to replace people yet. At best AI Gen AI platforms are acting as supped up search engines, but it won’t take long for domain specific AI solutions to be developed that affect all aspects of industry, but.AI is not going to replace swathes of employees, its not going to decimate the workforce. The development of AI platforms is in the near term, at best, going to automate manual repetitive work such as data analysis and prediction, it will speed up aspects technology using pattern recognition, optimisation of tasks and processes or automation. All task that humans find difficult to do at speed, with quality or efficiency.At best AI will improve our work load and allow employees to work more efficiently and improve the productivity and quality of what we do today. Take internal cyber audit as an example, AI can improve audit efficiency, productivity and quality of significant parts of low value, high volume, audit work. Such as checking artefact persuasiveness, evaluating large data sets determine control effectiveness and automating audit processes. Leaving the already small pool of qualified auditors to focus on higher value, more rewarding work. That has to be a good thing?One would not worry about AI replacing jobs en-masse anytime soon. One can see a future of a global aging population, where AI undertakes menial task and to a greater degree levels up the job market.
