CNI is at risk of being compromised, or has been compromised by nation state threat actors.The EU took steps through EU NIS 1 and now EU NIS 2 to secure its CNI providers across categories including Energy, Transport, banking, Financial Market Infrastructure, Health, Drinking and Waste Water, Digital Infrastructure, ICT Service Providers, Public Administration, Space, Manufacturing, food production and research. Setting out requirements for covered companies, of which there over over 150,000, to implement cybersecurity risk management.
