Many years ago I was employed by Warwick University and Rolls Royce plc work on solving a unique problem. How to use Knowledge Based Engineering (KBE) and Knowledge Based Systems(KBS) to solve manufacturing issues of the Manufacture of single crystal, orientation controlled, Turbine Blades. Today we call this AI.What did this period teach me? It taught me that complex problems require general and domain specific knowledge in order to be solved. Today we feed Gen-AI LLMs that contain a some but not all of the knowledge needed to solve the complex problems we need to resolve. They need to contain structured domain specific knowledge, that comes from domain knowledge and expertise. Why, because sh1T happens and things do not always form a well understood, well defined path from problem to solution. They require that domain knowledge that comes with experience. So here is my 10 cents on AI, DeepSeek and cybersecurity. The problem that AI faces, and a reason I am not concerned about who has the best LLM, who can train it quickest, at what costs is that LLMs do not have enough domain specific knowledge to solve complex cyber problems. One predicts that domain specific AI models, capturing domain knowledge and experience to resolve complex problems are required. In the case of cyber and AI, we see tools that aim to solve problems within cyber functions. We are yet to see tools that resolve the bigger problem of cybersecurity compliance across domains. This requires domain knowledge and experience.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D. McCarthy Faisal KhanVeritas GRC#cybersecurity #cyberriskmanagement #cyberregulation #artificialintelligence
