@Thaddeus Dziekanowski. In November 2024 the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of New South Wales issued a Practice Note addressing the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen AI) in legal proceedings that commenced on the 3rd February 2025.The Practice note is well worth reading, providing background, guidance and direction for Australian lawyers on the use of Generative AI.’Where Gen AI has been used in the preparation of written submissions or summaries or skeletons of argument, the author must verify in the body of the submissions, summaries or skeleton, that all citations, legal and academic authority and case law and legislative references:(a) exist(b) are accurate and(c) are relevant to the proceedings, and make similar verification in relation to references to evidence in written submissions or summaries or skeletons of argument to evidence. The Judicial guidelines highlight the verity that the NSW legal system takes the use of AI by covered lawyers. While one is not a lawyer, one suspects now it has been raised and is in force, covered Lawyers will be bound by the Judicial Guidelines.https://lnkd.in/dDpNhiZ5Brian D.
