Poor governance and strategy across public and private sectors exposes our CNI to nation state threat actors. The days of cyber FUD are long gone, this what the feeling of being between a rock and a hard place is like Bryan Foss. China on one side and Russia on the other, both well established, funded and accomplished nation state threat actors. One one hand It’s been long reported by the director of the FBI and other U.S security leaders that China has taken an active position in compromising U.S CNI. ‘Prepositioning itself inside U.S infrastructure in the event of war.’https://lnkd.in/eDg2qjy8https://lnkd.in/eG5CXiN5On the other we have Russia ready, and willing, to use cyber as an offensive tool to target UK infrastructure. Given the scale of that hostility, my message to members today is clear: no-one should underestimate the Russian cyber threat to Nato. The threat is real, he will tell the gathered Nato allies. Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Pat McFaddenThe question is how prepared are we to defend ourselves against well crafted nation state threat actors. The recent report about Thames Waters IT does not instill much confidence.https://lnkd.in/ehpJjniCWhen will we realize cyber is the most effective tool in warfare, outside of the using ICMBs with nuclear payloads. Problem is when you work in the field you can see the threat cyber poses to CNI. The statements made by Chris Wray earlier this year about China pre-positioning for cyber attacks in U.S CNI should be a wakeup call, leading to decisive action.@Thaddeus Dziekanowski Brian D.
