@Thaddeus Dziekanowski whilst its been an eventful week for the U.S this week.. But the World keep turning. While there’s allot to be said about having a new sheriff in town, and that’s now the situation in the U.S. The reality is that cybersecurity risk won’t be going away, to put U.S national interests first requires the protection of those interests cross all fronts.

As is the case for the U.S Transport Security Administration who announced a proposal rule to mandate cybersecurity risk management for Pipeline and Railroad CNI providers. The proposed rule establishes a requirement for certain pipeline, rail freight, passenger railroad and transit operators with a higher cyber risk profile to maintain a cyber risk management program. Higher risk public only bus operators to report cybersecurity incidents to CISA.

The Colonial pipeline cyber attack demonstrated the effect of cyber attacks on pipeline operators. Impacting the sale and distribution of fuel across the East cost of the U.S in 2021. The proposed cyber rules fall in line with other proposed rules across capital markets and healthcare in the U.S.

One suspects that cybersecurity will be a focus of the new U.S administration, what and how it will be affected is yet to be seen. But as a national security problem, one suspects cyber won’t be going away. Regulation maybe considered a burden, but so it the loss of fuel, damage to rail infrastructure, healthcare services, or corporate value.
