The SEC charges a UK citizen with hacking 5 U.S public companies to obtain non-public information, using the information to make $3.75 million in profits.

The SEC is charging William Westbrook with violating antifraud provisions of the Securities and Exchange Act 1934.  The complaint seeks a final judgment ordering Westbrook to pay civil penalties, ordering him to return his ill-gotten gains with prejudgment interest, and enjoining him from committing future violations of the charged provisions of the federal securities laws.

In addition the U.S Attorneys Office for the District of New Jersey announced criminal charges against Mr Westbrook.

One suspects we may see an extradition to the U.S to face charges.
