The Ukraine war has taught us allot about about modern warfare and the UK seems to be underprepared for modern conflict. One wonders the effect of cyber as a domain of operation and whether we have the necessary skills and resources to address the defensive cyber capabilities that the UKs public and private sectors require to manage cyber risk.

Last years Parliamentary review on cyber said it does not. The enclosed report opens up questions about the UK’s cyber capabilities, along side those more conventional weapon systems and resources.

It’s relatively easy to build out resources for conventional warfare, there are few companies that build tanks, boats or planes. When our conventional weapon systems and supply chains rely on digital, building the necessary capabilities to manage cybersecurity is far harder. Not only do our conventional system rely on it, but so does the rest of our CNI.

To quote Q (James Bond) ‘Well, I’ll hazard I can do more damage on my laptop sitting in my pajamas before my first cup of Earl Grey than you can do in a year in the field.’
